" As we had warned in our morning report, an expected correction was bound to happen considering the recent surge in the BIST starting with the positive turning of tide in relations with the NATO, as the BIST realized a loss yesterday of 0.29% to close at 8843, with a turnover of TRY 11.6bn. The losses were in parallel to the negative trading in the European markets due to doubts over the timetable for interest rate cuts, especially after FED Reserve, Jerome Powell's speech last week, as well as the stress on the European banks caused by concerns over lenders' exposure to commercial property problems.
" A correction is always welcomed, as it allows investors who thought they missed the last train to catch the next rally, thus giving strength to the benchmark.
" So, what led to the fall in the BIST? The Banks and the Aviation stocks fell by 1.22% and 1.56%, respectively, thus dragging the BIST lower, despite the Energy and Conglomerates rising by 2.76% and 1.14%, respectively.
" ARCLK-SAHOL and TAVHL were yesterday's best performing blue-chips, whereas ASELS-FROTO-TCELL were the most sold. VESTL shares once again closed limit-up thank to winning the Dutch lawsuit.
" As of print, the TRY is trading flat against the USD at 30.59, but weaker against the Euro at 32.96, while the DXY has fallen to 104.02.
" On the Bonds' front, the 2yr rates fell by 3bps to 42.99%, while the 10yr rates went a different direction and surged by 30bps to 27.14%.
" On the Commodity front, Brent is trading higher at $79.42, rising yesterday US crude production is expected to grow less than expected, easing concerns that the market is oversupplied, and coupled with Israel's rejection of the latest Hamas cease-fire, and Ounce GOLD is trading lower this morning at $2033, as of print.
" German industrial output fell more than expected in December by 1.6%, vs the estimated 0.4%!
" Please note yesterday that we released our "Buy" report for Big Chefs restaurants (BIGCH.TI) with a 12mth TP of TRY 64.07.
AGENDA:
" On the local front, the CBRT will be disclosing its Inflation Assessment Report AT 07:30GMT, headed by the new CBRT Governor Fatih Karaman, after he took over office less than a week ago, as well as the Net Foreign STOCK/BOND holdings.
" On the international front, the US will be releasing the Weekly Jobless Claims and Wholesale Retail figures, while China will announce its inflation readings.

" EGEEN: Disclosed that negotiations have been initiated with the Company and a US-based commercial vehicle company to extend the long-term agreement, which is currently ongoing and will expire on 31.12.2026, to cover the period between 01.01.2027 and 31.12.2035.
