Outlook:
The BIST-100 Index started Friday on a positive trend, scaled a historical peak of 5,562, and closed the day at 5,509.16, up 0.59%. The weekly return of the BIST-100 Index, which ended 2022 with a record return of 196%, was 1.00%. The Banking Index fell by 1.63% and the Industrial Index diverged negatively, down by 0.26%. On the global front, there was a slight weakening of risk appetite during the short week due to the festive break. Major stock markets ended the short week with limited decreases overall. In the first week of the new year, we expect volatility in global markets to slightly increase. The VIX Index ended the week above 21, and unless the Index falls below 20 the volatile course in the U.S. Stock Markets is expected to continue during the week, albeit to a limited extent, and there will be selling pressure in the major stock markets. Although the BIST-100 is expected to continue its independent course since the BIST's correlation with markets abroad has weakened, profit sales may also occur if sales in global stock markets are strong. Despite deterioration in the Index momentum amid rising profit sales in the last period, sharp pullbacks will continue to present a buying opportunity as the BIST is a prime alternative investment tool among TRY-based assets in the inflationary environment. Thus, strong domestic investor demand continues. We expect sectoral divergences to become clear ahead of the next results season. Markets in the U.S., Asia and the U.K. will be closed today. There was a slightly positive trend among German Dax futures. The VIOP-30 Index closed the Friday evening session flat. Locally, the Benchmark Index is expected to start the day rather positively. We expect intraday rises to be viewed as a selling opportunity, spelling fluctuation. SUPPORT: 5,476 - 5,428 RESISTANCE: 5,563 - 5,637.
