LOSS OF INTEREST LEADS TO FLAT OPENING
The BIST100 faced a sluggish trading session, as there was a lack of any real catalyst, with only the hopes of a
cease-fire and hostage exchange bringing some brief buying appetite to the market, but that was quickly doused
by Israeli's refusal. As such, the BIST100 fell by a slight loss of 0.07% to 7666, and on a low turnover of TRY
75.9bn, nearly half the volume we saw over the summer.
The inclusion of 19 Turkish equities into the MSCI small-cap index contributed to the outperformance of these
stocks yesterday, and please note that our research attention is also predominantly tiered towards this segment.
The Mining stocks continued yesterday's gains, and KOZAL's inclusion in the MSCI did not hurt its case, as street
rumour had it favoured to be removed, and the Banks also closed positively, while the Transportation stocks and
Service stocks pulled the benchmark lower.
SAHOL-SASA and the KOZAA/KOZAL shares were the most bought blue-chips, whereas TCELL-ODAS and TOASO
were the most sold.
As of yesterday's session closing numbers, the TRY is trading a tad weaker against the USD at 29.69, but stronger
against the Euro at 31.09, while the DXY is higher at 104.49. The 2yr and 10yr Bond rates both retreated by
57bps and 34bps to 41.11% and 28.49%, respectively.
Brent is continuing its downward spiral, currently at $80.41, please recall that as Türkiye is a net energy
importer, the fall in Energy prices would further contribute to the improvement in the Current Account Balances
and may also reflect positively onto Aviation stocks. The 5yr CDS rates have also fallen to their lowest level in
2.5yrs to 357.11. Meanwhile, ounce and gram GOLD are relatively flat at $1963 and TRY 1811, respectively.
Sweden's bid into NATO will be discussed at the Foreign Ministry Commission.
The October Budget posted a deficit of TRY 95.5bn, accruing over the 9mpnths to TRY 608.1bn, and non-interest
deficit was TRY 70.4bn.
Following in the steps of the US, the UK Inflation figures also fell to their lowest level in 2 years.
