• The BIST100 managed to overturn the negative into a positive day, thanks to the in-line US Inflation figures, but it was the Bank of America’s pro-Banking (private banks that is) report that got the party started, aiding the BIST to close 0.26% higher to 7749, and on a turnover of TRY 83.5bn, with the Banks rising on average 4%, followed by the 0.79% gains in the Aviation stocks, and no need mentioning the performance of the remaining sectors after the performance of the Banks. Ahead of Moody’s credit rating decision on Friday, we may see the Banks continue to outpace its peer sectors. The Telco’s were yesterday’s most sold sector stocks.
• As such, AKBNK-GARAN-ENKAI and YKBNK were yesterday’s biggest positive movers, whereas TCELL-GUBRF and ODAS were the most sold.
• As of print, the TRY is trading a tad weaker against the greenback at 29.05, and weaker against the Euro at 31.37, whereas the DXY is flat at 103.86. The 2yr Bond rates rose slightly by 3bps to 38.59%, the 10yr notes fell by 18bps to 26.77%.
• Brent is trading slightly higher this morning at $73.26, and both Ounce and Gram GOLD prices are calm at $1980 and TRY 1849, respectively., ahead of tonight’s FOMC meeting.
• Asian markets are trading mostly negative today; thus, we expect a flat opening today at home.
AGENDA:
• There are no macro releases expected today, while on the international front, traders will be anxiously waiting for the 8th and final FOMC meeting of the year, followed by Chairman Powell’s speech. A rate hike is not expected by the market, but the famous dot-plot graph and economic forecasts are expected to be disclosed as well. CBRT Governor Hafize Erkan will hold a meeting today at the Türkiye Exporters Assembly.
CORPORATE:
• PGSUS: Disclosed that its November passenger numbers rose by 15% y/y to 2.53mn, while its passenger load factor increased by 87.4% to 85.4%. Domestic passenger count rose by 20% y/y to 1.08mn, and international passenger count by 12% y/y to 1.45mn.
• SASA: Parent company Erdemoglu Holding sold 135k shares, corresponding to 2.5% of the parent company’s holding for around $200mn, adding that 75% of the proceeds will be transferred to SASA. According to Bloomberg, the sale price was TRY 43.10, corresponding to around a 10% discount.
