Outlook:

The BIST100 Index started Monday on a positive trend, but encountered sales at the opening. The Benchmark Index fluctuated throughout the rest of the day to close at 9,565.76, down 1.06%. While the Industrial Index lost 1.84%, the Banking Index diverged positively, up 0.74%. The BIST had started off positively after Treasury and Finance Minister Simsek denied the resignation rumors that had circulated over the weekend. Yet a weak selling trend was resumed for the rest of the day. The lack of short-term expectations and the fact that VIOP contracts have reached maturity also increased selling pressure at the BIST. Accordingly, the volatile course for the BIST may continue in the short term. On the global side, risk appetite remains strong. Yesterday, the U.S. and European stock markets closed mixed. This morning, German DAX futures are positive, while the U.S. futures and Asian stock markets are mixed. While most major stock exchanges are trading at historical peaks, purchasing has declined. Yet, we expect the rising trend among those bourses to continue as interest rate cut expectations prevail. Since the data agenda is calm in the first half of this week, we expect the trading volume on major stock exchanges to be limited. The VIOP30 Index completed the evening session down 0.11%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Tuesday flat, and to continue its fluctuating course thereafter. SUPPORT: 9,420 - 9,355 RESISTANCE: 9,750 - 10,000.
