" The BIST closed yesterday half-point higher at 5419, and turnover of TRY 137bn, thanks to reactionary inflows in the second half after seeing its trough at 5344 on the back of the overhang in the global markets on hawkish rate talks from the CB heads triggering sell-offs.
" The Banks fell by 4.63%, giving back half of its earnings from the previous day, thus the Industrials and Aviation, had to pick up from where the Banks left off, rising by 1.35% and 2.24%, respectively, whereas the Mining stocks shone the brightest, ending the day on a high of nearly 7%.
" Thus, looking at the BIST30 table, KOZAL, PGSUS and KOZAA were the most bought, whereas HALKB, ISCTR and YKBNK, led the falls, with VESTL being the most sold non-banking stock.
" Today, we may see a slightly better opening than yesterday, parallel to the recovery in the global markets.
" As of yesterday's close, the TRY is trading a tad weaker against the USD at 18.66, but stronger against the Euro at 19.79, and the DXY has risen slightly to 104.15. The 2yr and 10yr bond yields are continuing to fall, closing 16bps and 15bps lower to 8.76% and 10.43%, respectively. The CDS rates are trading flat at 537.
" On the commodity front, Brent is trading flat at USD 80.35, and the ounce and gram GOLD prices are also trading higher at USD 1815 and TRY 1089, respectively.
" Yesterday, the 3rd round of the minimum wage talks between the Government and labor union failed to yield a number.

" AUTOMOTIVE: According to the daily Haberturk, the 2023 SCT rate on automotives will be halved to 61.5%, citing the Official Gazette, per President Erdogan's right to increase/decrease the rates. We deem this news slightly positive on automotive sector shares.
" KENT: Disclosed that the Competition Board has imposed an TRY 8.77mn fine on the company. After yesterday's hefty fine on CCOLA, this may create an overhang on other food companies as well.
" ASELS: Turkey will start mass producing three domestically designed and produced air defense systems, according to the Communications Directorate. "To strengthen our country's air defense, decisions have been made for the new mass production of the SIPER, HISAR, and SUNGUR systems," the directorate said in a statement after a meeting of the Defense Industry Executive Committee in the capital Ankara. The Siper project is led by Turkey's defense giants Aselsan and Roketsan, as well as the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK).
" TUPRS: Disclosed that the energy regulator had given permission to Tuprs for the construction to its subsidiary Entek's storage unit, as well as 15 projects and total 1004.5mw pre-liminary additional capacity construction.
" TAVHL: The airport operator submitted the highest bid for the operating right of Ankara Esenboga Airport with a bid of €475mn + VAT, for 25-year tender, which includes a capacity increase from 24 May 2025-23 May 2050. 17€/international and 3€/domestic passenger fee will be charged.
