Flash News Alerts Spur BIST Higher
" Despite trading in the negative zone for most of the day, 2 major news flashes, one from Bloomberg and one from Reuters, ignited a buying frenzy, carrying the BIST 0.68% higher to 10,337, with a high turnover of TRY 127.6bn, led by the gains in the Banks, and followed by the Transportation stocks.
" The Banks rallied 2.28% higher on the back of a Bloomberg alert that stated that the Turkish government have been holding talks in recent weeks about easing restrictions on offshore currency swaps, a move that would meet a key demand from foreign investors interested in entering the market, as well as a Reuters news alert that stated that a team from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) that "grey-listed" Turkey in 2021, held meetings with Turkish authorities last week ahead of its highly-anticipated report on the country next month on June 28th, where Turkey is expected to be removed from the list.
" On the BIST30 side yesterday, EREGL-HEKTS and GARAN were yesterday's biggest advancers, as opposed to ODAS-AKSEN and PETKM.
" As of print, the TRY is trading flat against the USD at 32.27, but stronger against the Euro at 34.66, while the DXY has risen to 105.56. On the Bonds' side, both the 2yr and 10yr rates fell by 47bps and 166bps to 44.56% and 28.46%, respectively.
" The 5yr CDS rates have fallen to their lowest level since January 2nd to 284.
" On the Commodity side, Brent has calmed to $82.55, while GOLD has risen slightly to $2320.
" Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari suggested the U.S. central bank may need to forgo interest rate cuts this year due to stubborn inflation.

" The Cash Budget Balance will be released on the local side, while our foreign colleagues will be following the US Wholesale Figures and the German Industrial Production numbers.
