Mornıng Report (Trive Yatırım Menkul Değerler )

 • The BIST100 started the New Year on the right footing, closing the first trading session of the year 2.06% higher at 7624, and with a turnover of TRY 77.8bn, whereas the global markets were mixed.
• The Energy and Transportation stocks were on a more celebratory mood than their peers, whereas the Banks could only realize a gain of 0.58%, and the Conglomerates and REITs also underperformed the benchmark.
• GUBRF was once again trying to pare its previous limit-down closings, by ending the day on a second consecutive limit-up closing, and was followed by KRDMD and TCELL shares, the latter, thanks to its sale of its Ukrainian subsidies, and while ARCLK was the only blue-chip that ended the day in the red, it was followed by AKBNK and SASA shares at the bottom 3.
• As of print today, the TRY is trading weaker against both the USD and the Euro at 29.82 and 32.69, respectively, while the DXY has retreated slightly to 102.09, and the 5yr CDS rates have risen to 295.
• Brent pared its early morning gains yesterday due to the escalation in the Red Sea, after peaking intraday at $79.02, and is currently trading considerably lower today at $75.70, and whereas ounce GOLD is calm at $2065, gram GOLD has risen to TRY 1980, due to the rise in the USD/TRY parity. The 2yr and 10yr Bond yields both rose by 103bps and 45bps to 40.71% and 27.20%, respectively.
• Yesterday, the Turkish PMI slightly bettered its previous month’s reading by coming in at 47.4 vs 47.2, respectively, but as the PMI level is still below the 50 threshold, this indicates that the manufacturing sector is contracting.
• Announcing last year’s foreign trade numbers, President Erdogan stated that Türkiye’s exports for 2023 reached a historic peak of $255.8bn, and that the trade deficit decreased by 3.2% y/y. Erdogan also added that goods and services exports for 2024 could be over $375bn.
AGENDA:
• On the local front today, the CPI (+3% m/m; 64.90% y/y), will be released, while the US will be releasing the FOMC Minutes, JOLTS and ISM figures today, and Germany will be releasing its Unemployment figures.
