Market Watch(Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST-100 Index started Friday on a positive trend, followed a fluctuating intraday course and closed at 5,214.29, up 0.49%. The Banking Index continued to diverge positively on Friday, closing the day up 2.03%. On a weekly basis, the BIST-100 rose by 4.18%, while the Banking Index gained 12.87%. Risk appetite in global markets was strong at the start of the week. And yet the strong messages of the Fed and European Central Bank that interest rate hikes would continue, and the effect of weak economic data, pressured risk appetite midweek. This caused major indices to end the week with losses of over 2%. We expect risk appetite to continue to find direction in line with incoming data due to the statements of central banks to this effect. The VIX Index being close to 23 indicates that sales in the U.S. Stock Markets may deepen if volatility continues. In the domestic market the BIST has become the sole alternative investment instrument among TRY-based assets in an inflationary environment, with profit-taking experienced amid strong domestic investor demand. Any sharp pullbacks will simply present a buying opportunity for the medium term. The U.S. futures and German Dax futures were trading somewhat negatively this morning, while Asian Indices were bullish. The VIOP-30 Index closed the Friday evening session flat. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start the day with a positive trend. The volatile course should offer up selling opportunity, even if the uptrend continues during the day. SUPPORT: 5,154 - 5,042 RESISTANCE: 5,258 - 5,302.
