Outlook:

The BIST100 Index started Friday on a positive trend, fluctuated throughout the day and closed at 10,891.42, up 0.18%. The Industrial Index rose 0.29% and the Banking Index gained 0.42%. On a weekly basis, the BIST100 decreased by 2.37% and the Industrial Index lost 0.28%, while the Banking Index led the sales, down 6.70% to diverge negatively. As the return on the Banking Index has exceeded 70% since the start of the year, we consider current sales to be a mere correction. There is a reactionary increase in the BIST100 at its current levels, and we think the BIST may follow a volatile short-term course due to the lack of significant expectations supporting the markets. Yet, we have entered a period in which share-based divergences will become evident as 2Q24 financials begin to be announced. On the global front, macroeconomic data and developments in the run-up to the November US election are followed. Finally, on Friday, core personal consumption expenditures data, considered an inflation indicator in the USA, printed in line with expectations to support risk appetite. While the U.S. and Asian stock markets were on a downtrend last week, European counterparts diverged positively. This morning, U.S. futures, German DAX futures and Asian stock markets in general are trading positively. We expect macroeconomic data to continue guiding risk appetite. The VIOP30 Index ended the Friday evening session down 0.01%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Monday somewhat positively and continue a volatile course thereafter.
