Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Monday on a negative trend, testing 7,411 at the opening. The Benchmark Index closed the day at 7,796.65, up 3.77%, recovering its losses of Friday. Stocks with high index weights such as TUPRS, TCELL, BIMAS, and EREGL led the rise; the Industrial Index rose 4.75% and the Banking Index gained 0.13%. Corrections in the index, which recorded a sharp rise of close to 70% in the post-election period, remain limited due to factors such as gradual normalization, the negative real interest rate policy, and the ongoing foreign inflow even though it has lost momentum. In major global stock markets, factors such as concerns over the Fed's interest rate hike and weak economic developments from China, which suppress risk appetite, remain valid. While the Asian and European Stock Markets were generally bearish yesterday the U.S. Stock Markets rose, excluding the Dow Jones. This morning, the U.S. futures are trading with sellers, while German DAX futures and Asian Stock Markets are on a buying trend. The VIX index trading at 17 indicates that selling pressure and volatility in the U.S. Stock Markets have increased, albeit limitedly. If the VIX rises above 20 that pressure may deepen. The VIOP30 Index ended the evening session up 0.41%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Tuesday with a positive trend, and the fluctuating course to continue where gains prompt profit-taking. SUPPORT: 7,680 - 7,530 RESISTANCE: 7,869 - 8,085.
