In the half-day before the long break, the BIST 100 Index continued its rise to close at 9,814.19, up 0.59%. While the Banking Index gained 1.45%, the Industrial Index rose 1.22%. The lifting of election-related uncertainty and the continued transition to rational policies have a positive impact on the BIST amid expectations of increased foreign purchases. This week, on April 16, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek and CBRT Governor Karahan visit the USA for the IMF-World Bank meetings; the duo will also hold meetings with foreign investors starting from April 17. Before the economic management's visit to the USA, it was announced that an additional financing package of USD 18bn would be provided to Turkey within 3 years as part of the World Bank's country cooperation. Despite these positive expectations at home, tension is rising abroad, especially in the Middle East. Over the weekend, Iran attacked Israel with unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles. In the statement, the move was labeled retaliation for Israel's attack on the Iranian consulate annex in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1, 2024. The increased possibility of the Israeli-Palestinian war spreading may lead to a decrease in risk appetite for risky assets and increased volatility in stock markets in the short term. However, in line with our positive medium-term view, we argue that sharp pullbacks should be considered buying opportunities. Meanwhile, midweek CPI data in the USA printed above expectations, postponing interest rate cut expectations and suppressing risk appetite. In global markets, which followed a sell-off trend while Turkey was on holiday, the U.S. futures and DAX futures have followed a positive trend this morning, while a sell-off trend prevails among Asian bourses. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Monday with a limited negative trend and thereafter see fluctuation. SUPPORT: 9,800 - 9,700 RESISTANCE: 9,900 - 10,000.
