Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Friday on a positive trend but ended at 8,876.22, down 0.98% with sales towards the close. The Industrial Index decreased by 1.13% and the Banking Index lost 0.29%. On a weekly basis, the BIST100 Index, which has lost value for the 3rd week in a row, fell 2.56%, while the Banking Index decreased by 2.20% and the Industrial Index lost 0.63%. Despite weakening profit expectations for the third quarter, the fact that alternative income instruments offer high returns, plus geopolitical risk spreading in the Middle East curb local risk appetite. As long as these risks continue, we expect the short-term weak course in BIST to persist. However, we think that medium-long-term gradual buying will intensify as risks decline, since the return potential of many stocks is quite high compared to our target valuations. On the global front, although Friday's PPI data from the USA slightly exceeded expectations, the U.S. and European stock markets closed with increases. The VIOP30 Index rose 0.42% in Friday's evening session. This morning, Asian stock markets and German DAX futures are following a positive trend, while the U.S. futures are following a negative one. Geopolitical news flow and macroeconomic data will remain the markets' focus. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Monday flat, and then continue its fluctuating course if selling pressure continues. SUPPORT: 8,750 - 8,650 RESISTANCE: 9,000 - 9,200.
