Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Wednesday on a positive route, followed a bearish trend from the opening and closed the day at 10,743.30, down 0.49%. While the Industrial Index lost 0.12%, the Banking Index diverged negatively, down 1.19%. We think that selling pressure may continue in the short term for the BIST 100 due to the negative outlook in banking stocks. However, we maintain our opinion that it would be appropriate to consider the declines as buying opportunities due to positive expectations such as Moody's Turkey assessment on July 19th. On the global front, Fed Chairman Powell's presentation to the House of Representatives was followed yesterday. As Powell said, "I have some confidence that there is a downward trend in inflation," the U.S. stock markets continued to rise, led by technology stocks. Yesterday, European stock markets also followed a positive trend. This morning, the U.S. futures are in bearish aspect, while Asian stock markets and German DAX futures are bullish. We expect global risk appetite to remain guided by data. CPI data is expected in the USA today and is estimated to decrease from 3.3% to 3.1%. A print below expectations would support risk appetite, while a higher print would likely suppress risk appetite. The VIOP30 Index completed the evening session up 0.24%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Thursday with limited reactionary purchases and then continue its fluctuating course. SUPPORT: 10,700 - 10,600 RESISTANCE: 10,900 - 11,000.
