Outlook:
The BIST 100 Index started Thursday on a positive trend, maintained its strength throughout the day, and peaked at a record 8,682.35. The Index closed the day at 8,646.12, up 1.76%. The Industrial Index rose 2.13% and the Banking Index gained 1.45%. While the strong short-term trend at the BIST is maintained, it is noted that purchases in non-BIST 100 stocks are also gaining pace. We maintain our preference for selective stock picking at current levels. We expect declines to present buying opportunities for the BIST in the medium term as long as positive catalysts such as the stable implementation of rational policies and foreign investor interest continue. On the global front, risk appetite is recovering after the Fed meeting. Yesterday, the U.S. Stock Markets ended the day up 1%, regaining some of their mid-week losses. This morning, the U.S. futures and Asian Stock Markets excluding China are trending with buyers, while German DAX futures are priced negatively. We expect macroeconomic data and statements from Fed members to guide risk appetite in the coming period. Today, the U.S. non-farm employment data will be followed. Stronger-than-expected data may postpone the Fed's interest rate cut expectations and suppress risk appetite. Data weaker than expectations may support risk appetite. The VIOP30 Index ended the evening session up 0.12%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Friday with a positive trend, but see profit-taking, albeit limited, during the day. SUPPORT: 8,565 - 8,500 RESISTANCE: 8,706 - 8,750.
