Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Wednesday on a positive trend, fluctuated in a narrow band around 8,500 throughout the day and closed at 8,496.66, up 0.26%. The Industrial Index rose 0.42% and the Banking Index gained 0.06%. Following the over 13% rise recorded by the BIST100 Index in January, a slowdown in momentum is observed. Although positive catalysts should continue at the BIST in the medium term, profit sales can be observed in the short term. We maintain our view that sharp declines will be considered as buying opportunities as long as the transition to rational policies and foreign investor interest continues. Yet we consider it necessary to be selective at current levels. In global markets, the Fed meeting was followed yesterday. The Fed kept the interest rate constant in the range of 5.25-5.50%, in line with market expectations. Speaking after the meeting, Chairman Powell stated that he did not think the committee was likely to reach a certain level of confidence in a rate cut until March. Following Powell's statements, the possibility of an interest rate cut in March decreased from 50% to 36%, while the U.S. Stock Markets closed the day with declines of up to 2.2%. Reactionary purchases were observed in the U.S. futures and German DAX futures this morning, while Asian markets remained mixed. We expect macroeconomic data and statements from Fed members to guide risk appetite in the coming period. The VIOP30 Index ended the evening session flat, up 0.02%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Thursday with a slightly positive trend and follow a fluctuating intraday course. SUPPORT: 8,445 - 8,347 RESISTANCE: 8,502 - 8,562.
