Mornıng Report (Trive Yatırım Menkul Değerler )

• The BIST finally ended its 3-day losing streak, closing 1.33% higher at 7765, thanks to the buying appetite in the afternoon session, and accompanied on a turnover of TRY 76.1bn, led by 2.27% gains in the Energy stocks, followed by the Service and Conglomerates, while the Mining stocks were yesterday’s most bought sector stocks.
• The Banks, however, took a wrong detour, and diverged negatively from their peers, falling by on average 0.84%. The BIST managed to diverge positively from the European markets, whereas the US markets rebounded from their previous day sharp sell-offs, closing all around 1% higher.
• The MPC raised the 1-week repo rate by 250bps to 42.5%, in-line with the market expectation, and is widely expected to tag another 250bps at its next meeting on January 25th, 2024, however the tightening cycle is widely expected to be near its end.
• AKSEN-TTKOM and DOHOL were yesterday’s most bought blue-chip stocks, whereas GUBRF-AKBNK and AEFES (profit-takings from yesterday’s gains) were the most sold.
• As of print, the TRY is trading flat against the USD at 29.16, but slightly weaker against the Euro at 32.06, while the DXY has regressed to 101.88. The 5yr CDS rates are trading at 285.
• On the Bonds’ side, both the 2yr and the 10yr rates rose by 38bps each to 37.23% and 25.69%, respectively.
• Brent is trading considerably higher this morning at $79.59, paring its losses after Angola’s announcement that it was leaving the pact, as the block no longer served the country’s interests, per the oil minister’s statements, and whereas Ounce GOLD has fallen to $2020, Gram GOLD is higher at TRY 1920.
• Last week, Foreign Investors were net BUYERS of $396mn STOCKS and $180.9mn BONDS.
• Today, Japan’s inflation reading came at 2.8% vs last month’s reading of 3.3%.
AGENDA:
• On the local front, the Foreign Tourist Arrival figures will be disclosed, whereas across the Pond, the US PCE, Personal Spending & Income, Durable Goods Orders, New Home Sales and Michigan Consumer Sentiment will be released, while the UK will release its GDP growth rate, and Japan will disclose its Inflation figures.
CORPORATE:
• PLTUR: Disclosed that it was awarded the tender to shuttle the Istanbul Municipality workers for 12month worth TRY 519.3mn, thus representing 33% of its total net sales volume.
• PETKM: Disclosed that it will increase the paid-in capital of its subsidiary Petlim Limancilik to TRY 3bn from TRY 150mn.
• KONTR: Disclosed yesterday that yesterday it signed a TRY 174.9mn + VAT agreement with Eti Maden in Ankara.
