• The BIST100 managed to pare Wednesday’s 0.05% loss by rising by the same amount yesterday, thus closing at 11,139, and with a turnover of TRY 109.5bn, led by the strong buying appetite in the REITs and Aviation stocks, followed by the Energy stocks, while the Banks and Conglomerates weighed down on the gauge, falling by 0.13% and 0.64%, respectively.
• EKGYO-BIMAS-and THYAO were yesterday’s most bought BIST30 stocks, whereas PGSUS-TAVHL and AKSEN were the most sold.
• As of print, the TRY is trading slightly weaker against the USD at 33.11, but stronger against the Euro at 36.05, while the DXY has risen slightly to 104.30. The 2yr Bond yields rose by 44bps to 42.13%, whereas the 10yr rates fell by a slight 2bps drop to 27.94%.
• Brent is trading lower this morning at $83.74, as China’s new resolution on “deepening reform” to “advance Chinese modernization” was perceived below expectations, as well as Trump’s statements regarding ending the global crises once he takes power in office, while GOLD is lower today at $2422.
• The ECB left the main policy rates unchanged, as expected, and Chairman Lagarde stated that September rate cuts would be contingent on data.
• According to media sources, US Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, will have a telephone conversation with Ukraine President Volodymr Zelensky, attempting to end the war with Russia. Trump also claims that he will end the Israel war and all other global crises.
• According to media reports, US President Joe Biden may announce that his withdrawing from the Presidential elections.
AGENDA
• There are no major macro releases expected today, besides Moody’s Türkiye Sovereign Rate decision, which currently stands at “B3” with a Positive outlook. The expectations are for the credit rating to be increased one-notch to B2, and the outlook to remain Positive, whereas our in-house expectation is for the credit rating to be increased two notches to B1 with a Positive outlook.
• On the International side, Germany will disclose its PPI figures, and the Michigan Consumer Sentiment will be released from the States.
CORPORATE NEWS
• EKGYO: Disclosed that within the framework of the “Cooperation on Urban Transformation Applications" which was signed between Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Infrastructure and Urban Transformation Services General Directorate and Urban Transformation Services General Directorate, and agreement worth TRY 689.6mn + VAT was signed for the residential construction at Umraniye, Istanbul.
• SNGYO: Disclosed that it will increase its paid-in capital by 166% to TRY 4bn from TRY 1.5bn.
