Mornıng Report (Trive Yatırım Menkul Değerler )

• The 2 day rally at the BIST came to an abrupt end yesterday, as the BIST100 faced profit-takings, and fell by a little over 1% to 7736, and on a turnover of TRY 98.6bn, despite a strong opening, parallel to the losses in the US markets, and perhaps due to the Finance Minister’s online participation at the JPMorgan Investor meeting tomorrow in New York.
• The global markets appear to be on a cautious mood ahead of tomorrow’s critical inflation figures.
• The Banks managed to close slightly positive, but only thanks to the limit-up closing in HALKB due to the dismissal of the Owens case-which was a lawsuit opened in 2020 by a group of plaintiffs in grounds of “forum non conveniens” which means a court acknowledges that another forum or court where the case might have been brought is a more appropriate venue for a legal case, and transfers the case to such a forum, as well as the slight gains in VAKBN and YKBNK. The Industrial stocks were brought down by the sell-offs in PETKM and KRDMD, and the Energy stocks also faced profit-takings.
• As such, EKGYO managed to maintain its slow by upwards trending after the appointment of former Minister Murat Kurum to run for Istanbul mayor and followed by YKBNK and GARAN shares. On the flipside-PETKM faced profit-takings after yesterday’s surge, and was joined at the bottom 3 by KRDMD and ARCLK shares.
• As of print, the TRY is trading weaker against both the USD and the Euro at 29.97 and 32.80, respectively, while the DXY is a tad higher at 102.52. On the Bonds’ side, the 2yr rates closed flat at 39.95%, whereas the 10yr yields fell bps to 26.69%.
• Brent is trading flat this morning at $77.71, and Ounce and Gram GOLD are slightly higher at $2028 and TRY 1955, respectively.
• The World Bank announced yesterday that it forecasts Türkiye’s growth rate for 2023 at 4.2%, and 3.1% and 3.9% for 2024 and 2025, respectively.
• According to Bloomberg, Finance and Treasury Minister, Mr. Mehmet Simsek, will not be accompanying Governor Gaye Erkan to New York to meet with investors on January 11th, but will join the meetings online, due to his Ankara programs.
• As today is the last day for settlements before the weekend, we may see profit-takings towards the end of the session, as we have seen in the previous Wednesday trading sessions.

• The Unemployment and Industrial Production figures will be released on the local side, whereas the US will disclose its Wholesale Inventory figures.
