Outlook:
The BIST100 Index started Monday on a positive trend, yet lost its gains to selling pressure on stocks with high index weights such as THYAO, SASA and TUPRS. The Index closed the day at 4,997.80, down 0.68%. While the Banking Index diverged positively, down 0.22%, the Industrial Index diverged negatively, down 0.88%. Despite possible short-term reactionary purchases, we expect the fluctuating course to continue until the election on May 14 amid increased volatility due to election uncertainty. In addition, we expect newsflow on banking sector risk in global markets to increase volatility. Yesterday, the U.S. and European Stock Markets made a positive start to the new week as concerns over a banking crisis subsided. Asian Stock Markets were mostly selling after data on the earnings decline among Chinese industrials emerged. The U.S. and German DAX futures were positive this morning, and Asian Stock Markets are also buying. This morning, the VIX index fell to 21, indicating that volatility in the U.S. Stock Markets has decreased. Meanwhile, an ounce of gold declined from close to 2,000 last week to around 1,960, revealing that the search for a safe haven has also lost pace. Domestically, the VIOP-30 Index closed the evening session with a limited decline of 0.05%. We expect the Benchmark Index to start Tuesday on a positive trend and follow a fluctuating intraday course. SUPPORT: 4,983 - 4,920 RESISTANCE: 5,050 - 5,110.
