Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Tuesday flat, remaining weak thereafter to close at 9,636.12, down 0.25%. The Industrial Index fell by 0.09%, while the Banking Index recorded a limited rise of 0.14%. Following the BIST's sharp rally we observe a loss of momentum and consider profit-taking to be normal. This is particularly true for the Banking Index, which had witnessed a rapid 28% increase in just three weeks. As such, profit-taking led by the banks may be expected. However, as long as expectations of a rate cut from the Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT) persist, pullbacks should present buying opportunities, with the medium-term positive outlook remaining intact. Globally, the minutes of the latest Fed meeting were monitored yesterday, revealing that Fed members favor a gradual approach to rate cuts. With no surprises in the minutes the U.S. stock markets ended the day with gains, while European markets traded negatively. This morning, the U.S. futures and Asian markets are mixed, while German DAX futures are trading negatively. Today, in the U.S., revised Q3 growth data, as well as personal income and spending data, will be closely watched. These figures could impact risk appetite. The VIOP30 Index rose by 0.64% in the evening session. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Wednesday flat and then sustain its positive outlook if purchases continue to cover any intraday profit-taking.
