Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST-100 Index started Thursday on a positive trend and closed at 7,662.05, up 3.19%. The Industrial Index rose 3.47% and the Banking Index gained 2.35%. New simplification steps have emerged this morning from the CBRT, which increased interest rates by 500 bps to 35% yesterday. We think that the ongoing process of returning to rational policies may support the BIST, and especially bank stocks. On the other hand, we expect rising geopolitical risk and newsflow on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to continue impacting the market. Any softening of geopolitical risk could increase reactionary purchases. Yesterday indices in global markets closed amid sales on rising expectations that the Fed may continue to raise interest rates given strong U.S. growth data. Risk appetite is recovering this morning, accompanied by positive technology balance sheets. U.S. futures are rising, led by Nasdaq, and German DAX futures and Asian Stock Markets are also on the up. The VIOP-30 Index closed the evening session up 0.15%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Friday with reactionary purchases. Yet any intraday purchases would merely present a profit-taking opportunity, perpetuating sales momentum. SUPPORT: 7,520 - 7,446 RESISTANCE: 7,765 - 7,825.
