The BIST100 Index started Thursday on a negative trend, followed a fluctuating course, and closed at 7,764.95, up 1.33%. While the Industrial Index rose 1.10%, the Banking Index fell 0.84%. Despite profit realization among banking stocks, the rising trend of the Banking Index is maintained. Yesterday, the CBRT raised the policy rate by 250 bps to 42.5%, in line with market expectations. In the decision text, it was reiterated that tightening steps would be completed as soon as possible, leaving the door open for interest rate increases to continue. While the transition to rational policies continues with determination, we think that the CDS' course below 300 and expectations that foreign purchases would be led by the banks will continue to support banking stocks. Industrial stocks, on the other hand, have a weak outlook due to expectations that inflation accounting will negatively affect companies, and that domestic demand will remain weak in the coming period impacting balance sheets. Across the BIST, the low volume trend persists due to the rising attractiveness of alternative investment instruments such as deposits following rising interest rates and pressure created by higher stock loan interest rates. However, we think that sharp pullbacks can be considered buying opportunities for the medium term. In global markets risk appetite remains strong. The expectation that the Fed will start reducing interest rates increased after growth data in the US emerged weaker than expected yesterday. The U.S. Stock Markets closed the day with increases. While the U.S. futures and German DAX futures are on the decline this morning, Asian Stock Markets are following a mixed course. In general, we think that as long as economic data supports the perception that interest rate hikes have ended, global risk appetite will maintain its strength and the rising trend in major stock markets will be sustained as withdrawals present buying opportunities. Core PCE (personal consumption expenditures) data to be announced today in the US may impact risk appetite. The VIOP-30 Index ended the evening session up 0.05%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Friday positively, and to continue the reactionary, albeit limited uptrend during the day. SUPPORT: 7,717 - 7,638 RESISTANCE: 7,838 - 7,960.
