Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Friday on a positive trend, but failed to maintain it, weakening throughout the day to close at 9,821.96, down 1.61%. The Industrial Index fell 1.27% and the Banking Index lost 2.22%. On a weekly basis, the BIST100 decreased by 0.86% and the Industrial Index by 1.36%, while the Banking Index diverged positively, up 3.53%. Global markets have significantly regained their losses of the previous week sparked by rising recession concerns. Yet the lack of any significant supportive expectations in the short term and the loss of momentum sustain selling pressure at the BIST. We expect the fluctuation to continue in the short term due to these expectations and mounting geopolitical risk in the Middle East. On the global front, as recession concerns eased with the U.S. data announced last week, stock markets continued to recover. Major stock markets finished the week with an average rise of 2%. This morning the U.S. futures are positive, German DAX futures are negative and Asian stock markets are mixed. We expect global markets to remain balanced unless incoming data increases recession concerns. The VIOP30 Index completed the Friday evening session up 0.18%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Monday slightly positively and continue its fluctuating course thereafter. SUPPORT: 9,750 - 9,600 RESISTANCE: 10,000 - 10,250.
