Outlook:
The BIST 100 Index started Tuesday flat and then witnessed sales. Yet the Index recovered with purchases led by banks after news that swap channels would be opened to foreigners. It scaled a new peak of 10,375 to close the day at 10,336.50, up 0.68%. While the Industrial Index lost 0.27%, the Banking Index diverged positively, up 2.28%. Expectations of increased foreign investor interest in the BIST remain a catalyst of the benchmark index rise. While Turkey’s country risk premium, the CDS, has decreased amid steps taken towards normalization, the positive outlook at the BIST continues, led by the banks. Indeed, the course of banking stocks will be decisive in terms of Index direction. On the global front, where the data agenda remained quiet, the U.S. and European Stock Markets closed yesterday mixed after a few days among buyers. This morning, the U.S. futures, German DAX futures, and Asian Stock Markets in general are on a downtrend. We expect global risk appetite to continue finding direction from incoming data and balance sheets. The VIOP30 Index ended the evening session up 0.16%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Wednesday positively and seek to continue its rise should intraday profit-taking be encountered. SUPPORT: 10,200 - 10,100 RESISTANCE: 10,400 - 10,500.
